Dear TREC Community,

Welcome! We hope you will enjoy our new monthly newsletter focused on topics that will help you build resilience and improve overall wellness in yourself, others, and the organizations you serve.

On a practical level, this newsletter will share actionable strategies, real-world examples, and updates on the latest trends in resilience-building education. We hope, too, that it will become a bridge to building a community to connect with you, answer your questions, and exchange ideas.

An integral part of our work at TREC is our willingness to be transparent about who we are as human beings.

CONNECT

We have found that sharing our journey in a vulnerable way invites others to join in and creates communities of resilience for long-lasting positive change. These connections, anchored in the sound practices of TREC's foundational themes, are exponentially expanding our trauma-resilient communities and helping more individuals than we would have dreamed possible.

We hope you join us on this journey towards greater resilience and wellness!

Warm regards,

Craig and Dana

Overcoming burnout in the workplace: how to create a supportive environment.

Burnout is a common problem in the workplace that can have negative impact on employee health and productivity. In this post, we will discuss the causes of burnout, the importance of creating a supportive workplace environment, and provide practical tips for employers and employees to overcome burnout.

Causes of Burnout

Burnout is often caused by prolonged stress and feelings of overwhelm or disengagement. Some common causes of burnout in the workplace include compassion fatigue, excessive workload, lack of control over work, lack of support from management, and unhealthy work-life balance.

Importance of Creating a Supportive Workplace Environment

Creating a supportive workplace environment is important for preventing and overcoming burnout. A supportive workplace environment can help employees feel valued, motivated, and engaged in their work. Some ways to create a supportive workplace environment include:

  • Encouraging open communication and collaboration between employees and management.
  • Providing employees with opportunities for professional development and growth.
  • Offering flexible work arrangements, such as remote work or flexible schedules.
  • Encouraging self-care practices, such as taking breaks, exercise, or mental health support.

HOPE promotes a child-friendly and supportive environment where our teenage and adult students who are pregnant or parenting can be successful in their educational and parenting journey.

This life-changing program enables students to work toward a high school diploma at their own pace while receiving needs-based support such as mentorship, peer support, and essential baby supplies.
