VOLUME 2 | NUMBER 2 | FEBRUARY 2025

Firefighter in Los Angeles County

The impact of the fires in Southern California has been daunting, and our heartfelt support continues to go out to Los Angeles and San Diego counties, where many of our friends and communities are facing profound loss and trauma. Southern California is our home base, and we are deeply saddened by the long-lasting ripple effects this devastation has on individuals, communities, and our region.

According to the website CAL FIRE, as of January 31, 2025, the wildfires had forced more than 200,000 people to evacuate and destroyed or damaged more than 18,000 homes and structures, including many schools. While the immediate threat has subsided, recovery efforts continue. Many families remain displaced and their lives disrupted as they navigate the profound effects of recent trauma and the resurfacing of past wounds.

In these difficult times, we stand with our community, offering compassion, knowledge, and hope for healing and recovery.

Resilience includes the capacity to adjust and adapt to the stress of our lived experiences.

TREC resiliency programs are grounded in equity, mindfulness, and growth mindsets. These programs help create more connected, positive, and healing-centered learning environments and maintain supportive relationships within them. We believe that together, we can build resilience and foster a sense of belonging in our communities.
